Dr Asvat

Dr Akiel Asvat is a highly skilled ophthalmic surgeonndedicated to helping patients achieve clear, comfortable vision and long-term eye health. He obtained his medical degree (MBBCh) from the University of the Witwatersrand and went on to complete his Fellowship of the College of Ophthalmologists of South Africa (FC Ophth (SA)). He later completed advanced training in Oculoplastic
Surgery through the European School of Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology.

With extensive experience in both the public and private healthcare sectors, Dr Asvat combines advanced surgical expertise with a patient-centred approach. His areas of special interest include cataract surgery, glaucoma management, corneal procedures, and oculoplastic surgery. He is passionate about patient education and believes that informed patients are empowered to make confident decisions about their eye care.

Dr Asvat has spent over a decade contributing to the public health sector, where he helped manage complex cases and played an active role in training future ophthalmologists. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa. Outside of clinical practice, he remains involved in academic research and scientific publications, reflecting his commitment to advancing ophthalmic care.
